Chapter Eight

SILVER HAD NEVER BEEN so sleepy in his life. He tried to force himself to stay awake, but nothing worked. His eyelids felt as heavy as boulders. Each time he tried to keep them open, tears doubled his vision. In the end, he settled into Von’s big bed and fell asleep.

Throughout the night he stirred awake. When he found Von beside him, he smiled and let slumber take him away once more. Yes, he’d missed his first chance to have Von claim him, but he couldn’t be that disappointed when he didn’t look or feel his best.

Besides, being close but not too close might entice Von more. At least it seemed to. He held Silver’s hand and stroked his other hand over Silver’s hair. What astonished Silver was how the gesture made him feel: safe. Not sexy and ready for action but cared for. Von genuinely cared about him, and that gave Silver hope.

In the morning, he woke just as the sun came over the horizon. He couldn’t see it so much as he could feel it. Funny how some of his sprite abilities had followed him into his human body.

Silver turned on his side and peered at Von. He had to press his lips together not to giggle. Von’s hair was turned this way and that as if pixies had been tugging on the strands all night. Of course, when Silver lowered his gaze to Von’s mouth, he no longer wanted to laugh. Von had the most perfect mouth Silver had ever seen. Granted, he hadn’t seen very many human mouths until they’d gone shopping yesterday, but not one of the people they’d seen even came close to the perfection of Von’s lips.

Longing to kiss him, Silver stayed on his side of the bed. If he pushed too hard, Von wouldn’t sleep with him in the big bed, and that would toss any hope Silver had of seducing him right out the window. Instead, Silver clung to Von’s hand and enjoyed gazing upon his handsome face.

“Are you watching me sleep?” Von asked without opening his eyes.

“Yes.”

“You don’t think that’s creepy?”

“No. Why would that be creepy?”

Von opened one eye.

Silver tried not to giggle and failed.

“And now you’re laughing at me?”

“If you could see your hair, you’d laugh too.”

“Is that right?” Von reached out and messed up Silver’s hair. “Now we’re even.”

“I don’t think so.” Silver pushed off the covers and leaped on Von then did his best to mess up his hair worse than it already was.

“You sneaky little sprite.” Von grasped Silver’s wrists, flipped him onto his back, then knelt above him, careful to keep his weight off Silver’s smaller body. “I’ll teach you to mess with me.” Von held Silver down with one hand then tangled the other through his hair.

Laughing, Silver struggled, or he did until he felt Von’s hard cock against his stomach.

Suddenly, the situation turned. Von’s smile slid away and that faraway dreamy expression took its place. When he leaned down and kissed Silver, it felt like the most natural thing in the world.
