Chapter Seven

Alex had never been as aware of his ass as he was after a night with Seth. Every time he moved, he winced. It wasn’t pain so much as just, well, he could feel what he normally couldn’t. Seth’s ability to range from tender to brutal washed goosebumps over his arms again. And tightened his case of morning wood. When he felt Seth was hard too, Alex slipped his hand around his mate’s cock and stroked.

Seth groaned.

Alex whimpered.

“Careful, intrepid human. I know you are tender.”

“You don’t have to put it in my ass.”

Seth opened one eye.

“I’ve got other tight holes.”

Both Seth’s eyes came open, lifting his brows.

“Nice, tight, slick holes.” Alex added his other hand to make a snug channel.

Seth winced.

“Oh, my—I’m so sorry.” Alex released him at once. “It never crossed my mind that you’d be tender too.”

“Don’t worry.” Seth lifted Alex’s hands and kiss them. “I heal quickly.”

“Was I too tight?”

Seth groaned.

“Sorry. I guess I shouldn’t talk about it either.” But it was kind of nice to know he could turn on his mate so easily.

“I think we should talk of something else.”

“Like what?” Alex laid down next to Seth but not touching except for their hands.

“You decide.”

“Why would three demons want me as a conduit?”

“What?” Seth rolled to his side.

“Oh, right. We never did talk about that after I came back last night.” Alex rolled to his side too. “That’s what they wanted me for. They stole my dad...” Alex trailed off. “Actually, I don’t know why they kidnapped my dad, but they said they wanted me for a conduit.”

“A conduit?”

“They wanted me to feed them information. I told them to just get a computer but they said computers don’t work in the Shadowland.”

“They don’t. Electronic things generally don’t work there.”

“Then how do you cook?”

“We have fire.”

“So, like, a wood burning stove?”

Seth nodded.

“Isn’t that hard to work with?”

“It takes more finesse but thermometers work there.”

“Do you miss your home?”

“My home was nice for a cave.”

“A cave?”

“There aren’t houses in the Shadowland like there are here. There are caves and dens.”

“You were happy?”

Seth shrugged. “If you can call it that.” Seth cupped Alex’s chin. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t like thinking that I’ve ruined your life.”

“You most certainly did not ruin my life.” Seth kissed him then pulled him close so that Alex rested his head on his chest. “You’ve made my life a thousand times better.”

“I have?” Alex instantly wanted to argue that he couldn’t possibly have done that.

“Yes.” Seth kissed the top of his head then sighed. “I never thought—well, let’s just say that most of my kind doesn’t find a mate at all and rarely a human one at that. In fact, I don’t think a demon has claimed a human mate in millennia.”

“Why?”

“We’re supposed to be incompatible.”

“Are we?”

“That’s what they say.”

“But our bodies fit together just fine.” Alex was a little disappointed that they’d never have another seven climax session. Then again, he wondered how long it would take to recover from the one they’d had.
