Friendship with God is a blessing that cannot be compared to any other relationship. This gift will touch every part of your life.

Friendship with God affects your conversations and decisions throughout your day. But most of all, it gives substance to your faith. When you live each day in continual communication with the Holy Spirit, valuing this tremendous gift, it gives you courage. Being a friend of God means that you always have Someone to confide in, laugh with and spend time with. It means you have Someone who always believes in you and knows exactly how to cheer you up.

But like all good friendships, you must not focus on yourself. This is a pure friendship that gives and receives—caring as deeply about the Lord’s desires as He cares about yours.

Tend to your friendship with God today. Spend time getting to know Him and listening to what is on His heart. Honor the Holy Spirit by walking and talking with Him throughout the day, and discover how fun and rewarding it is to relate to your Creator as a friend.

REFLECT What do I enjoy doing with friends? Would I do the same with God?

PRAY Jesus, I’m so blessed to be Your friend! Thank You for always having my back and for caring about aspects of my life that only a close friend would care about. I want to know what’s on Your heart and to recognize Your voice among a thousand other voices. Help me to cherish our friendship and never take it for granted.
