The final piece

I think that industry may well be the final sector that one day becomes completely decarbonised and meets the requirements of the ‘one planet’ city. In that future, waste and pollution will become distant memories. They will be viewed in the same way that we look upon the practice of throwing rubbish and excrement into the streets – with shame and disgust.

The points made in Chapter 4 about reducing the length of supply lines and making social and environmental criteria part of procurement processes and purchasing decisions, are relevant here. Governments are recommended to investigate the example of Sweden and its PRINCE project described in that chapter.
