A NEW SUSPECT

Two days had passed since Nurse Amanda's shocking death under the old oak tree. Agatha couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her like a heavy fog. Bristol Lake, usually a quaint and cheerful town, now seemed to hold secrets in every shadow.

Agatha adjusted her volunteer badge as she walked down the hallway of Green Acres. She'd taken on the role of assistant librarian, hoping to keep a close eye on things without arousing suspicion. As she rounded the corner towards the library, a movement caught her eye.

Hank, the burly linen delivery guy, was easing Mr. Collins' office door shut behind him. Agatha frowned. What business did Hank have with the administrator?

She slowed her pace, pretending to fumble with her phone while watching Hank from the corner of her eye. He clutched a small bundle of linens to his chest, glancing nervously up and down the hallway before hurrying away.

Something wasn't right. Agatha's heart quickened as she approached Mr. Collins' now-closed door. She hesitated, hand hovering near the knob. Should she knock? Peek inside?

“Everything alright, Agatha?”

She jumped at the sound of Mildred's voice behind her.

“Fine,” Agatha said quickly, dropping her hand. “Just... thinking about which books to recommend for the book club.”

As they continued towards the library, Agatha's mind raced. Why was Hank in Mr. Collins' office? And what was with that nervous behavior? She made a mental note to keep a closer eye on the linen deliveries from now on. Something was off, and she was determined to figure out what.
