Chapter Fourteen
Brandon
I lay in bed with Devin beside me, both of us lying on our backs, his hands resting carefully over the bedcovers on his thighs. An action movie played on my television across from us, affixed to the wall and hovering over my long dresser. Iâd done it. Iâd done everything I could to make him feel comfortable with himself and with me. This was the point of all the waiting. Iâd figured it all out when Iâd bought the toys and the polish, why Iâd really wanted to get to know him before we started fooling around too much. I knew it could be better than anything Iâd ever had, but he had to feel comfortable being himself.
I turned on my side, enjoying his profile, the smallish nose, and the way his lips bowed down into a perfect pout. God, I loved kissing him, touching him, the noises he made when he came. Iâd wanted so badly to be inside him, to take his virginity, but I knew I had to wait. Even if he said he was ready, I wasnât so sure he was. âHey, Dev.â
âYeah?â He turned his head and smiled at me, that smile that melted my heart every time.
âWe should probably talk about something.â I propped myself on an elbow, then grabbed the remote and paused the movie. I chewed my lower lip. How to even start the condom conversationâ¦
âWhat is it?â He sucked in a breath. âIs, is something wrong? Bran?â His brows wrinkled as his eyes sparkled in the glow of the television.
I brushed my fingers up his arm. âNothingâs wrong.â Leaning over, I kissed him, then drew back. âSo, I was tested recently, you know for STDs and Iâm clean.â What a way to startâwith a bang.
His eyes grew wide, and his jaw dropped open.
âI hadnât been with anyone for a few months before that and youâre a virgin, soâ¦â I inhaled deeply. There really was no good reason to use a condom was there? It wasnât like I could get him pregnant. My lip twitched in the corner. I shouldnât be smiling right now. This was supposed to be serious.
âWhy are you telling me this?â He shifted on the bed, partially turning toward me.
I huffed an exhale. âBecause I think when we do have, you know, sex, we donât need to use a condom.â There, Iâd said it. I watched his reaction.
âI-I never even thought about that. Have you ever had anything? An STD?â He stared at me, his brows lifting.
âIâ¦â I blew out a puff of air. âYeah, once.â Okay, this had now turned awkward. âI got crabs from a hookup last year.â I shook my head, chuckling. âItâs not really something a condom would have prevented.â I combed my hand through my hair. âI was sort of pissed off because Gina and I had permanently broken up for the last time.â Okay, way to bring up all my old shit.
He twisted to face me. âWhat happened? You never really told me very much about that.
