After that giant meatball, several pieces of focaccia, a big plate of risotto, and two desserts (yes, I ordered and ate them both), I was pretty full. Also, very happy. But all I wanted to do was go back to the RV, put on some comfy clothes and vegetate on the couch with my hunk of a husband.
Probably with my phone nearby and my laptop on the couch next to me, because we did still have work to do concerning Charlie, as well as Matt and this blackmail business. But I wasnât going to get crazy this evening.
I planned on keeping my efforts to more online digging. What we really needed were the results of Charlieâs autopsy and cause of death and for Birdie to tell us who that partial print belonged to. Until that happened, we were just gathering information without knowing if it was important or not.
I was frustrated we couldnât do more.
We thanked Matt again for dinner, said good night, and headed for the RV. Sin unlocked and opened the door for me. Spider and Sugar were sitting right inside, waiting.
âMama, Spider needs dinner.â
âYeah, Momlady,â Sugar added. âWeâre hungry.â
I gave them both a stern look as I came in. âWe put food down for you guys before we left. That was your dinner.â
Spider rubbed against my legs. âSpider still hungry.â
Sin snorted. âWhat he wants isâ ââ
âDonât say it. Thatâll just make it worse.â
âWhat? Treâ ââ
âDonât say the T word!â I shot him a stern look.
âTreats, Mama, treats!â Spider jumped up onto the couch and pawed the air with one foot.
âSee?â I said to Sin, laughing.
He grinned. âIâll give them some. You go change.â
âGood, because that is all I want to do.â I wasnât exactly dressed up, but even the maternity leggings were starting to feel snug. I had no doubt that had more to do with the amount Iâd eaten and less to do with Jack Jr. having a growth spurt in the last couple of hours.
I put on my nightgown and picked out a pair of fuzzy socks with grippy dots on the bottom. Sin came in as I was sitting down on the bed.
âNeed help with those?â
âI can still put my own socks on, thank you.â It took three tries to get my ankle up on my knee.
Smiling, but not too much, he held out his hand. âGive them to me.â
I passed the socks over. He kneeled down and slipped them onto my feet. Maybe Jack Jr. had grown. âThanks.â
He kissed my knees and looked up at me adoringly. âAnytime, Princess.â
âI love you.â
âI love you, too.â He pushed up to his feet like it was no big deal, which it wasnât, for him.
Then he offered me a hand. I took it. âWhat are you going to do with the rest of your evening?â
âWatch some television, maybe? We could look for a movie.â
I nodded. âIâm up for that.â
I grabbed my laptop and settled on the couch. While he changed, I scrolled through the streaming channels to see what was new and what looked entertaining.
