Every Tuesday, I walked across Jerusalem to a musical evening at a young couple’s open house. People sat on oriental cushions on the stone floor, surrounded by exotic hangings and furnishings. After the concert, Turkish coffee was served and we mingled and chatted. On my way home, I took in the Jerusalem cityscape of pink stone glistening in the moonlight, and enjoyed the changing imagery on my route across the city. Here, an open view of the glittering town against Mount Zion; beyond it, out-of-bounds Jerusalem with the mysterious Dome of the Rock’s gold cupola rising high above the rest. A short cut gave me a more intimate view of a corner of the town. Here my surroundings took over and my senses merged with the images.
