We had just sat down to dinner when Mr. Jones came into the room. "Madam, please excuse the intrusion, but young master has arrived home with a friend."

Mrs. West looked up in surprise. "Friend?" She looked to Angela and me. "Damien has other friends?"

"There's Tom and Andy," I offered.

Mrs. West shook her head. "They're henchmen, not friends."

I didn't want to admit it, but she was right.

"Fix me my dinner," Damien said, striding into the room.

He looked at the table. Angela and I sat on either side of Mrs. West. I wondered where he would sit. He grimaced and went over to Angela's side and pulled out the empty chair beside her. Mrs. West watched this with a raised eyebrow. "Welcome home, my dear. I'm so happy you could join us."

"Yeah, whatever."

I looked back at the door and my fork fell from nerveless fingers. Noah Nash strode into the room with a cocky smile. "Mrs. West, your home is magnificent and it suits you much better than the castle."

"Castle?" I said numbly.

Damien rolled his eyes. "Yeah, we had a castle. Hated the place, but it was better than here."

"Then maybe we should move back," Mrs. West suggested.

"Oh, no need for you to move. I can go live there on my own."

"Not for two more years," she said with a glower.

Damien rolled his eyes. Noah took the seat by me. "Hello, Sarah. I hope you've been enjoying yourself."

I gave him a mild glare. "I had been up until now."

He just gave me a cheeky smile in return.

"Well, this certainly changes things. Girls, our weekend plans may have to be adjusted a bit."

I remembered the skeet shooting discussion and nodded my head vigorously. "Yes, no rifles, that sounds like a good idea."

"What?" Damien asked.

"Nothing, dear. I assume you plan to spend the whole weekend here?"

"I'll stay as long as they're staying."

"Yes, that sounds lovely," she said.

Damien looked across the table at me. I couldn't tell what he was trying to tell me. Unless he was hoping I would volunteer to leave now. A group of servants came into the room, all laden with trays.

"I'm sorry, Damien. If we had known you were coming, I would have had cook prepare your usual meal. You'll just have to make do with what we are all eating."

A covered plate was set before me. The lid was whisked away and I looked down into mussel linguine. The mussels still had their shells. There was no chance of Damien eating this. He was going to go hungry. I picked up a fork and knife and cautiously dug into my meal. I looked over at Damien, and he was just staring at the plate. Wait, if his mother hadn't known he'd be coming home, how'd they know to have TWO extra meals ready? Because Noah had a plate in front of him as well. I glanced toward Mrs. West. She was taking a sip from her champagne glass. It hid her smirk only a bit.

Damien made a disgusted sound and covered his plate with his napkin.
