Ivy entered the break room, where Élise, Kat, and Moira were all getting ready for their shifts. Élise was adjusting her uniform’s collar, Kat was rummaging through her toolbox for something, and Moira was sipping a cup of coffee.

“I hope my foundation doesn’t stain the collar. Bonjour, Ivy!” Élise greeted Ivy in her melodic voice.

“Good morning, thanks for taking Monty.” Ivy smiled and set her purse on the table.

“I should get going, there’s a leak at the spa. Save some breakfast for me,” Kat looked up from her bag.

“I haven’t even finished my coffee and she’s expecting breakfast,” Moira chuckled.

Ivy smiled as she put on her maid outfit. She cleared her throat, catching the attention of her friends.

“By the way, I talked to the inspector. He’s going to question Vanessa about what I saw last night.”

“Ah, that’s good news.” Élise’s eyes brightened with interest.

“I wonder how she’ll react.” Kat crossed her arms. “Do you think she'll be nervous?”

“Well, lass,” Moira took another sip of her coffee, her tone teasing. “If she’s innocent as a lamb, she’s got nothing to worry about, has she?”

“The thing is, I don’t think she’s innocent.” Ivy closed her locker and smoothed out her uniform. She looked down at her watch. “I just don’t know why. Anyway, I can’t keep focusing on this. As much as I’d love to solve this mystery more than ever, my real job awaits.”
