CHAPTER 18

The grandeur of Sienna Rivers' Riversong plantation was on full display. The sprawling patio, adorned with twinkling fairy lights, was a perfect setting for the laughter and animated conversations that filled the air as the guests enjoyed the wine and the appetizers.

The wine, which had been selected by Marcel and Sienna, flowed freely into the Waterford crystal wine glasses. Sienna was a wine connoisseur and even the most jaded guest acknowledged the quality of her choices for the evening.

Servers carried fresh trays of appetizers to the patio, returning with empty trays, a testament to the popularity and quality of them. Dani believed that each dish, including the appetizers, should be a work of culinary artistry, a marriage of flavors, textures, and presentation that transcended the ordinary. Arthur was sure her attention to that was the reason she’d won her Emmy awards and why VIP Catering was in such demand.

The guests were served appetizers on the large patio to be followed by dinner in the garden. They consisted of delicate smoked salmon crostini with a flourish of vibrant microgreens, which offered contrasting textures and harmonious flavors. Miniature lobster and avocado tacos, garnished with a zesty lime and creamy aioli, melted in the mouth.

Anna’s cracker appetizer with cheese, a spicy honey butter sauce, and a slice of olive, while simple sounding, was the favorite of all the appetizers. There was something about the combination of flavors that was excellent.

Lila Sterling, her striking auburn hair catching the soft candlelight, couldn't help but gush with enthusiasm. "Sienna, darling, these appetizers are an absolute triumph! Your caterers have elevated the art of cuisine to a new pinnacle. I simply must have their names," she exclaimed, her eyes twinkling with genuine appreciation.

Sienna smiled and said, “Certainly. I’ll give you their card when you leave. So glad you like them.”

Sasha Bennett who happened to walk by Lila at that moment, said in a rare moment of accord, "I agree, Sienna, every bite is delicious."

With his signature charm, Alex Carrington raised his glass in a toast, his magnetic smile illuminating the gathering. "To your caterers, the culinary conjurers who have graced us with this masterpiece. May this evening be as unforgettable as the food."

As the guests continued to enjoy the appetizers, conversations flowed, people talking about upcoming tours, award ceremonies, and collaborative projects. Ella Marshall, who loved to perform outside of the United States, hinted at an impending world tour that would carry her to the far reaches of the globe.

"Bass" Johnson regaled his peers with stories of his latest album, which had garnered multiple Grammy nominations.

Nina Walker, the pop sensation celebrated for her electrifying stage presence, revealed her plans for a groundbreaking music video set to be filmed in exotic locales, which she was certain would appeal to her fan base.
