‘Next port of call – Richard Duke.’ Belinda gave Harry her best smile. It didn’t seem to be working today: Harry’s face clouded over.

‘Really, Belinda. I think we should do as Vincent of Dock Green asks and stay away from this for a bit.’

‘Firstly, H, you’re showing your age there, and secondly, you’ve told me how long it takes to book a prisoner in, let alone interview them for murder. Therefore, PC Green is hardly likely to show up at Richard’s house in the next half hour, is he?’

For less than a second, she thought that Harry’s resolve was about to crack. Then he said, ‘No, there’ll be another patrol on their way there now. At the very least, they’ll be asking him questions. I can only assume that Daisy was arrested because Donald told them he’d seen her return last night.’

‘But why would she go back?’ said Belinda. ‘That doesn’t make any sense. If it was poison, she could have slipped it into John’s drink and then left.’

Harry mulled this over for a moment or two. ‘You know what would make me think more clearly about all this?’

‘Let me guess,’ said Belinda. ‘Would it be food by any chance?’

He rubbed his hands together with glee. ‘I know a clifftop café in Capel le Ferne. You’ll love it. The sea views are amazing.’

‘Come on then,’ she sighed.
