@QweenPandora: Well, I stand corrected.

Any suspicions we had about LostAngel and TheGoodDoctor are officially null and void.

With one kiss, Sexi have me convinced they’re solid and one-hundred-percent into each other. Sorry, Doc, but whatever plans you had for wooing LostAngel are likely dead in the water.

Until next time, Peeps.

Cole: Have a nice date with the football star? Does he have any idea what a bitch you can be?

I stop on the porch to read the text. Thanks to Pandora, Cole has clearly been clocking my whereabouts, but I’m done with his bullshit. Enough is enough.

His sorry ass is officially blocked.

I enter the house and Benny looks up from his newspaper. First, he stares at the boxes in my hands, then forces a smile, which is pretty much the reaction I expected.

“Need some help?”

“Nope, I’ve got it.” That answer halts him when he sets down his newspaper.

He eyes the boxes again, but doesn’t bring up what seeing them implies. That this whole ‘me moving out’ thing is real.

“Were you waiting up for me?” After asking, I deadbolt the door behind me and lean the boxes against the wall.

“Yes and no,” he says with a grin. “I know you’re grown, but the security light out back kept coming on. Your ma asked me to check it out, but I didn’t see anything. So, I figured I’d just hang out down here and make sure you got in safe.”

“Thanks,” I say with a smile. He’s so protective.

“Of course. You’re my girl.”

My heart lurches a bit when he calls me that. Things have been rocky between us in recent years, but never to the point that I question his love for me.

I start toward the steps again when he calls out.

“Hey, Lex. I’ve been waiting to hear how your first day went. Everybody treating you good at the clinic?”

“They seem nice so far,” I answer with a nod. “There’s a lot of work to be done to get things running smoothly, but I’m not afraid of a challenge.”

“You never have been,” he says smiling. “Seen Sterling lately? I thought you might’ve invited him to dinner this past Sunday.”

“We hung out Saturday. And again tonight,” I share, not missing how Benny’s smile just grew ten inches.

“And what about him? Is he still treating you right?”

His inquiry has me thinking of the kiss. That spine-tingling, panty-soaking kiss that made me question everything tonight. Not sure what sort of voodoo Sterling did, but I still feel his hands on my skin, and the sensation has me wishing he’d touched more of me.

What the fuck is even happening?

I realize I’ve gotten carried away and clear my throat, smiling innocently to mask the filthy thoughts I just had.

“Yep, we’re good. We just hit up a taco truck when I got off work, but ironically enough, didn’t get any tacos. So, don’t be surprised if you hear me rummaging around in the kitchen later.”

Benny shakes his head and laughs. “Stopped at a taco truck but didn’t get any tacos. That’s a new one.
