“Stop eating everything,” I scolded Isac. “There’s not going to be anything left for the guests.”

“You have plenty of food,” he said and snatched a chunk of cheese.

“I would like to have plenty of food for them. Not you. Quit eating everything.”

“Don’t be stingy,” he said and walked to the bar to pour himself a drink. “I still can’t believe you’re doing this. What the hell is wrong with you? You should have rented a hotel or something. You’re going to have all these people in your house. Not only will they be envious, but I would guess some are going to be bitter.”

“They know who we are,” I said. “It’s not like they think we live in tiny little houses.”

“Alright, but don’t think this is the start of a new trend.”

“Whatever.” The food had been delivered a bit ago. I had it catered because there was no way I could cook that much food. And I didn’t want my guests gagging or spitting out what I made. This was supposed to be a celebration to thank everyone. Splurging on some good catering was necessary.

“Hello!” Edwin called out.

“Kitchen,” I shouted back.

He walked in carrying a case of champagne. “My contribution,” he said.

“I’ll take it to the bar,” I said.

As a bachelor, I prided myself on a nice bar setup. The room was supposed to be a sitting room, but it had been turned into a bar of sorts. My brothers and friends would come over and hang out. There was a game room attached with a pool table and a few pinball machines. I might have gone a little far with the bachelor pad thing. One of these days I would get rid of the games.

My bar stretched eight feet long and had blue LED lights that ran under it. The liquor cabinet was well stocked with extra on hand for tonight’s party. I put the case of champagne behind the bar and turned on some of my bar signs. It was a man cave on steroids. I rejoined my brothers in the kitchen just in time to catch Isac stuffing more of the apps in his mouth.

“Dammit, stop!” I growled. “You’re such a fucking child.”

“Is your girlfriend coming?” Edwin asked.

“Stop.”

“I’m serious,” he said with a shrug. “Are we calling her your girlfriend?”

“No, we are not.”

“His fiancée,” Isac teased.

Sometimes, it felt like we were still stupid adolescents. “Leave it alone. Don’t you dare embarrass her.”

“Are you going to kiss her on her other cheek?” Isac teased.

“Shut up.”

“Did you talk to her?” Edwin asked. “Are you guys a thing or not a thing?”

“We didn’t talk, but I think I made it clear what was going on.”

“How so?” Edwin asked. “Trust me, what we men think is clear, is never clear to the woman. Assuming will get you in some serious hot water. Never assume.”

“I left her a rose on her desk,” I said proudly. “Just a single red rose. She came to my office and thanked me. After the meeting yesterday, I gave her a proper kiss.
