She wondered if he would have been interested when she was twenty kilos heavier. Working for the PSNI had served its purpose. An Internet start-up needed a 24/7 commitment, which wasn’t possible when you were taking care of a mother with dementia. Trying to juggle both had caused her weight to balloon. But that was the past. She’d downloaded her version of the facial recognition software. She knew that the PSNI’s computer section strictly forbade officers from downloading unapproved programmes, but what they didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them. And looking for Simpson would help her to fine-tune the modifications she’d made to the software.
