Chapter Ten
(Alexis)
My eyes fluttered open as I tried to sit up. There was a stinging pain in my hand. Looking down, I saw the IV. My head hurt. Finally sitting up, I looked around the room. Sleeping in the corner was Dominic.
âBaby!â my mom yelled causing Dominic to wake and my head to throb. âDoctor! Sheâs awake!â mom yelled as she ran to me. âAre you ok? Can you see? Can you hear me?â.
âMOM!â I yelled out, cutting her barrage of questions off. âStop talking so fucking loud. My head hurts.â.
âSorry sweety.â she said in a whisper kissing my hand. âI was so worried about you.â. She began to cry.
âIâm ok mom. Really.â I said to her. Fear struck me at that moment as I realized what happened. âWhere is Jason?â. I started shaking.
âDonât worry about him.â Dominic said. A sly smile on his lips. âHe wonât be bothering anyone for a long time.â.
I couldnât help it. I started crying uncontrollably. The thought of him touching me, ripping my panties off, and what he could have done to me, filled me with terror.
âBaby, calm down.â my mom said, trying to sooth me. âHoney, you have to calm down.â.
âI canât breathe.â I gasp, clawing at my throat for air.
âWhere is that goddamned doctor?!â mom says running out of the room.
He was there as soon as she hit the door. Grabbing my face, he pulled my gaze to his. âAlexis. Alexis look at me love.â he said softly. âBreathe with me. Inâ¦â he placed my hand on his chest and took a deep breath, âout.â he exhaled, eyes locked on mine. Repeating this process three more times till I finally started to relax. He kept one hand on the side of my face. The other was holding the one I had against his chest. Using his thumb to wipe away the tears still falling from my eyes. âYouâre safe now. Iâm not going to let anything happen to you.â.
There was so much sincerity in his words. His eyes were fixed on me. I reached up to put my hand on his face. He closed his eyes, turned into my hand and breathed in deeply. When he opened them again, I could see the flecks of silver in them glowing.
âRemus?â I said. Shock and confusion taking over his face. He stiffened, afraid to move. âIt was you. You saved me.â.
âI felt it. The pull. You were in danger. I could taste your fear.â his eyes flashed. âI ran as fast as I could. Iâm sorry I let him hurt you.â he said shamefully, dropping his eyes to the floor.
âItâs not your fault.â I said stroking the side of his face causing his eyes to find mine once more. âYou saved me.â.
âI wanted to kill him Alexis.â Dominic said letting a deep growl escape his throat. âHe was going to rape you. Take you when he had no right. Probably more.â. He had a murderous look on his face.
âWhat happened?â I asked.
Just as Dominic opened his mouth, my mother came back with the doctor.
