The area surrounding Knit/Purl was referred to in Sunset magazine as the “Fiber Arts District,” thanks to a cluster of shops devoted to fabric crafts. Knit/Purl is an upscale knitting store lined with cubbies positively bursting with skeins of luxurious yarns from all over the world. While the price point may be slightly higher than at some of the other knit shops in town, the selection can’t be beat, particularly if you are looking for Koigu and ShiBui sock yarns. Check out the “Knit Nights” on Wednesdays, when they keep the doors open late so folks can gather as they knit, or the drop-in knitting clinics geared toward intermediate knitters looking for support and ideas.
Knit/Pearl is also conveniently right next to Josephine’s Dry Goods, a purveyor of beautiful silks, laces, and other high-end fabrics, as well as pretty notions.
