Henry popped into existence near my house in Utrecht. He grabbed my arm, and we appeared in front of the Valley coffee shop. The owner had recently put up a new sign naming it the Danu Valley Coffee Shop in rainbow colors. Appropriate since Danu was now a resident and the Valley waterfall flowed in the seven colors of the rainbow. Sen and Jo were waiting for us. We all sat and ordered coffee.

“Nick, I have never seen you so happy,” Jo said.

“A lot of things finally fell into place, but really it is all about Sarah. Now that we’ve found each other we plan to stay together and be happy.”

“Good, and that is what we are here for,” Jo said. “We will help you make that happen.”

“Thanks, Jo.”

“Nick, I have a question. Any idea why Sarah, a fae, is in biomedical research?” Sen asked.

“Damn good question,” Henry said.

“Yes, it is, and what’s her field of specialty?” Jo asked.

“I don’t know, specifically,” I said. “Her company does some a variety of things, including mesh inserts, tubing, some light constructs for joint replacements, test kits for several diseases, and in vitro fertilization, or IVF, materials and supplies. From our discussions, her area is more in the IVF and general fertility field.”

“That is interesting,” Jo said. “When we visit Morrigan in the fae realm, what is one thing you don’t see? Children.”

“Makes sense, because I don’t see any playgrounds, schools, or toy stores either,” Senecus said.

“Could be the fae are dying out,” Henry said. “It’s not been obvious since they are long-lived and the decline in population has been slow. But probably why they stay out of battles the past few hundred years–they can’t afford the losses.”

“But I do remember seeing a few babies and pregnant women the past couple of years on our visits,” Jo said.

“You mean, since we started giving them the Danu essence?” Senecus asked.

“Yes, and I’d be willing to bet all those new babies are girls,” Jo said.

“We need to keep that in mind but put it off for now,” Senecus said. “Nick, we have some ideas about how this meeting will likely go, and what you need to know.”

We spent the next few hours talking about the fae and the possible asks and outcomes. We had a short follow up the next day to refresh and see if any of us had any new insights. Then we all had to wait another day.

Finally, it was time to go to Iceland. I was nervous as I didn’t know how things would go, but I had confidence in the three people going with me. When I talked to Sarah on the phone, she was also nervous, but thought everything would work out.
