I bury my face in Katie’s shoulder. She smells like sweat and sex. Knowing that I’m the reason for it makes me smile.

After letting myself savor this feeling for a moment, I pull out of her. My body is still so sensitive and if her gasp was any indication, so is hers.

“I’ll be back,” I promise, moving to the bathroom.

I dispose of the condom and look up to see her in the doorway. She’s back in that robe again already. “Can I ask you something?”

Even though the hesitancy on her face troubles me, I nod. I don’t want her to regret what just happened because I sure as hell don’t.

She licks her lips and says softly, “Did I do that right? I wasn’t sure that—”

Her words end against my lips. I kiss her thoroughly, wanting her to know she’s pleased me in every possible way.

I grin. “I’m more than fuckin’ satisfied. How about you?”

Her eyes go round, and she quickly nods.

“Come here.” I pull her into my arms, cradling her against my chest. “At midnight, I want you to sneak back here. Let me please you again.”

She brushes a strand of hair from her face as excitement flashes in her eyes. “Will we do all of that again?”

I chuckle. “Oh, we’re doing it again.”

I want her under me tonight. I want her under me tomorrow night and the night after that too. But given how skittish Katie is, I know she needs me to earn her trust. And I will. One orgasm at a time.

She groans. “We have to go back to the party now, don’t we?”

“Not quite yet,” I say as I tug her toward the shower.

I turn the water on warm and we spend the next few minutes splashing together. Afterwards, I wrap her in a towel and hold her, delighting in how small she feels against me.

In the room, I dress quickly. Because if I stay naked for too long, I’ll seduce her again and we’ll never make it downstairs.

She’s still fixing her hair when she gives me a nervous smile. “You should probably go first. I don’t want anybody to know.”

That you’re sleeping with your boss. I understand what she’s trying not to say, and I hate that it’ll matter so damn much. If the world knows we’re sleeping together, my career goes on. Hers could be seriously impacted for years to come.

She runs her fingers through her hair, arranging it into an artful braid. She gives herself a grin in the mirror.

Her face is flushed, and her eyes are shining. The fact that I’m responsible for that look makes me feel like the luckiest bastard on earth.

“Don’t forget about your promise, Cinderella.” I duck and kiss her on the cheek. The gesture is affectionate, but it feels right somehow.

I have a smile on my face as I leave the room, but it quickly disappears. Standing in the hallway is my daughter with my best friend.

Atlas gives him a goodbye kiss then she disappears into the elevator.
