Klieg lights fill the Hollywood sky to announce the grand opening of the new Max Factor Make-Up Studio, 1935.

The doors opened promptly at 4 p.m. Minutes later, stars, producers, directors, and cinematographers, longtime personal friends of the Factors, began to arrive. Chauffeured limousines drove up to the entrance, and publicists escorted guests down the red carpet to the microphones at the entrance, where they stopped for interviews. Each time a popular star showed up, flash-bulbs popped and a great roar went up from the crowd lining the street.
