Chapter Nine

Malice

“I want to know who all were around my kids when we first got in,” I demand, snarling as I speak to Cy, Hammer, Axe, and a few others.

It’s been hours since finding out what happened to the triplets and I’m fuckin’ pissed. Willow hasn’t left their side since the moment they allowed us into the NICU. I’m sure the nurses and doctors were suspicious of us at first, but they soon realized Willow and I wouldn’t do a thing to hurt our kids.

Anger boils in my chest at the thought of nearly losing three of the four people that mean the most to me in the world.

“I’ll take a look, VP,” Cy grunts.

“I’ve had all the bottles that are for your three and my son thrown out. Quinn and Lissa went and got all new. They’re gonna leave them in my room until we know what’s happened. This is fucked up that those three could have fuckin’ died if your ol’ lady didn’t hear one of them start crying,” Hammer growls.

“We nearly lost Gavin. Willow’s beside herself with the thought. She’d thought at first he was resting peacefully when she’d checked on them and found Gemini burning up. Now she’s demanding to hurt whoever attempted to kill her babies,” I mutter with a shake of my head as I remember how she spoke to that nurse when we first got to the hospital.

Sighing, Hammer shakes his head and then focuses back on me. “You think they might have had anything to do with this?”

I don’t have to ask who ‘they’ are to understand who he’s talking about. “I don’t know. I wouldn’t put it past them. Though, then again, they’d want them alive in order to have them take over the family bullshit.”

“We’ll keep an eye out and we’ll find who tried to hurt your kids,” Hammer declares, ending the conversation.

“Appreciated. Can you do me a favor and call Wesley? He’ll wanna know about this,” I mutter, not really wanting to call him and bring him in on it, but Willow’s his granddaughter and my kids are his family too.

Fuck.

Nodding, he heads out to go check on his own kid and ol’ lady. He’ll make sure to help figure out what’s going on.

Cy goes with Hammer leaving Axe and a few others standing around the room waiting for answers. They won’t leave, not yet, at least. Not until we have answers as to what’s going on and whether or not someone is going to come after my family again.

I talk with them again briefly before going back into the NICU to where my sons and daughter are resting under the watchful eye of my exhausted woman. She’d not gone back to sleep once since waking up to them being sick.

I take a seat in the chair next to Willow and pull her into my arms. She rests against me and allows me to stroke her hair. Shortly after, she slumps further into me, having passed out finally.

Good, she’ll need her rest.
