Before I dismiss differing points of view, I will learn healthy ways to approach disagreements.

I admit I do not have a clue about understanding and communicating effectively across the barriers of my own perspective. Honestly, I am looking for a version of myself, yet am often attracted to people who are as much like me as water is like vodka. (They are both clear and wet, but the similarities end there.)

People with differing points of view make life interesting, make conversation stimulating. I need to learn ways to approach disagreements and differences that widen my opportunities for relationships or help my partner and me make our marriage work. I commit to being respectful of my partner’s ideas and experiences, and to making others feel free to express their feelings and be who they really are—without fear of judgment or condemnation.
