The above steps will help you create a Wish-List that’s applicable to your whole life. For example, here’s a portion of a Wish-List that I created today. Note how I describe a memory, rate it, and then rewrite that memory so it gets a “10” rating from me.

My As-Is Memory #1: Because my hemoglobin is way down due to a botched operation and my accompanying loss of blood, when I stand up to walk to the kitchen, my body feels suddenly unsteady. I have to lean on the wall so that I don’t fall over and I start hyperventilating. I can’t catch my breath. This continues for thirty long and scary seconds.

Rating: 1

Perfect Alternative: I stand up from my desk and walk easily and normally to the kitchen. My breath is steady, my head is clear, and I am filled with energy.

Rating: 10

My As-Is Memory #2: My favorite Chinese restaurant has changed chefs, and the quality of their food has dropped dramatically. Now I’m hungry for Chinese, but the other restaurants I’ve tried haven’t been any better. I feel frustrated.

Rating: 4

Perfect Alternative: When I review the ratings and the illustrated menus of Chinese restaurants online, I find a new restaurant in my neighborhood whose food looks really good and my Success Team says to go with it. I order from them, and their food perfectly suits my taste. I’m back in business.

Rating: 10

My As-Is Memory #3: My writing partner sent me a draft of my next book that was really disappointing. She didn’t understand the material or instructions I’d given her, and the draft she wrote was filled with errors. Our release date is rapidly approaching, and I’m on the hook for a good deal of money if we don’t meet our deadline. I don’t know how to use her effectively.

Rating: 2

Perfect Alternative: Knowing that my writing partner is great at crafting stories and narratives, I share my ideas for those portions of my next book, which she adroitly writes while I rework the instruction-based sections. I’m extremely satisfied with the result.

Rating: 10

My As-Is Memory #4: It’s been five years since I lost about 100 pounds and came to my set-point weight of 148.5 pounds. I pigged out on Chinese food this past weekend. Yet, when I stepped on the scale this morning, it showed that I am 1.8 pounds under my-set point weight.

Rating: 10

My As-Is Memory #5: My next-door neighbors have an outdoor stairway that’s only about fifteen feet from the head of my bed. They wake me up at night with their loud voices, which is really annoying.

Rating: 3

Perfect Alternative: I slept soundly all night and didn’t hear my neighbors at all, because I had researched noise suppression and had my handyman install two layers of drywall. He did a great job, and I’m very comfortable and peaceful in my quiet bedroom.

Rating: 10

Do you see how the process works?

First, I asked my Success Team, “What happened today?” via my heart chakra. Second, I wrote out every As-Is Memory that came to mind.
