Let it sit upside-down until the rubber has cured on the bottom. Don’t rush it. The anticipation may be overwhelming, and it’s often tempting to start messing with the rubber to try to rush the process, but patience will always pay off in projects like this.

Once the silicone has cured, flip the whole thing right side up and mount it to a piece of cardboard with hot glue, as shown in Figure 8-6. Make sure that the cardboard base is at least 1″ (about 2 cm) wider and longer than the piece being molded.

Now, glue down a series of pegs on the base around the outside of the helmet (Figure 8-7).
