Gabriella Evangelista was, in certain respects, a character who always lived up to expectations.

Just as her appearance suggested, she guffawed with a loud “Oh-ho-ho-ho,” possessed a haughty personality to match, and would occasionally betray this image with an airheaded clumsiness that actually came as little surprise. She met these expectations in battle as well.

And in a certain sense, this latest conundrum was perfectly in line with her character, too.

No normal person could stumble their way into pressing that switch on the wall, much less blindly activate and press the correct combination on the magic circle–cipher that the switch generated.

The fact that Gabby, and Ms. IOU as well, made you believe that they were totally capable of such nonsense was a really amazing and, um, charming (?) element of their characters.

If their clumsiness manifested during a truly important dungeon visit, some people might punch themselves or send a fist through their monitor, but I wasn’t bothered at all.

Now, where we ended up on the other side of the teleporter wasn’t an issue. It was a hidden layer of the dungeon.

While the events to get here may have been unexpected, as long as things worked out in the end, then there would be nothing… Scratch that, there may have been something to worry about. I was fairly confident I remembered that being at the end of this route.

If I were to point out one other thing that I hadn’t planned for, it was that the magic circle spat us out in midair.

“Eeeeeeaauuuuugh!”

“Gaaaaaaaaaugh!”

Suddenly engulfed in weightlessness, my surprise only lasted an instant before I immediately searched for the other two. I wasted no time heading over to them and reaching out my stole.

Yuika grabbed onto the fabric herself as she plummeted, while Gabby needed to be wrapped up and pulled toward me.

I quickly brought them close into my arms, using my muscles as a parachute… Okay, I actually stretched my stole out wide instead.

Our descent slowed slightly, but this wouldn’t be enough to dampen our impact.

Convincing myself I had to protect the other two, I used enhance magic on myself. Beside me, Yuika cast defense-strengthening support magic.

Honestly, I was impressed. She had been screaming just a moment ago, but she was still capable of thinking straight in a tense situation like this. By contrast, Gabby was clinging onto me and screeching, her pure-white panties on full display. But that’s what made her so cute, wasn’t it?

Why had Yuika only used her support magic on me?

Well, I supposed that I technically understood the reason. It was that sort of thing, wasn’t it? She was basically telling me, You better do something about this, Takioto.

I immediately stretched out my stole as wide as it would go, forming it into a parachute-like shape to slow our descent even further. I thought this would allow me to endure the impact of the landing, but it seemed my fears were unnecessary. The instant I reached the ground, the area at my feet limply caved in, and I didn’t feel pain in the slightest.
