The Natchez Trace is over 8,000 years old. It began as an Indian and buffalo trail. Today, the Natchez Trace Parkway runs parallel to the old trace route and is 444 miles of scenic route. Travelers along the Natchez Trace step back in time and discover significant landmarks in our nation’s history. Beginning in Natchez, The Trace passes near Emerald Mound, the second largest native mound in America. From there, it passes near Vicksburg National Military Park, a cypress swamp, a Chickasaw village in Tupelo, on through northwest Alabama, before it ends at Leepers Fork, just outside Nashville, Tennessee. The Trace is lined with picnic areas, historical markers, and nature trails.

The Natchez Trace will do quite nicely for our letter N.

This beautiful road was once a trail for Indians and for bison.
