Sewing the Side Seams
1 Fold the back facing side seams in by 0.5cm (1â4in) and press in place. Moving the back facing out of the way, match the front (including front facing) and back legs at the side seams and sew (Fig.11). Finish the side seams using an overlocker or zigzag stitch and press towards the back.
Making the Back Casing
1 The back of the trousers is elasticated. To make a casing for the elastic, readjust the back facing to sit flat and matching at the side seams, and pin. Sew a line of stitching across the back facing through all layers 1cm (3â8in) up from the bottom edge, then another 1cm (3â8in) up from this (Fig.12).
