The confirmation Milo needed had just arrived. As he sat in his office, he peered at the computer screen and re-read the email just to be sure. He had friends in a lot of places. One of which was the Corporation Commission. He’d asked his friend to track down the members of Seaside Holdings. What came back was a trail of dummy corporations, of which Milo had discovered two already, but more importantly, was that he now had the names of those other members. Martin Hernandez, Sam Childers and a man named Miguel Cortez. Cortez was an attorney and not a direct member. He was just a signatory. This meant only one thing to Milo. “Cartel.” And the origination of at least one other corporation tied to Seaside Holdings was in Bogota—Marigold Enterprises. The connection between Sam Childers and Julius Hardin was taking shape. The trail to the cartel was forming.

Milo pressed a button on his phone. “Hi there, Joyce. Do I have any free time today?”

“As a matter of fact, you don’t have anything scheduled until 1 o’clock. Why?”

He checked the time. It was 10am. “I need to run out for a bit. I’ll be back by 1.” He released the button and stood to pull on his suit coat. “I told her I would stop by and see the office anyway. Might as well kill two birds.”
