At that point, anybody who had fewer than 250 T cells, and whose viral load was skyrocketing, usually was quite visible because of the side effects of the current medications, particularly facial wasting. Other visible side effects included neuropathy, the inability to walk, and Kaposi sarcoma in an exposed place of the body. There were few places where these people felt fully comfortable and welcomed. There was one piece that Gran Fury created, before they disbanded, that addressed the feelings and the core emotional values of people with AIDS. Mark Simpson and others were involved with a project called The Four Questions. It was a giant sheet of paper, and, printed very small, were these four questions: Do you resent people with AIDS? Do you trust HIV-negatives? Have you given up hope for a cure? When was the last time you cried?
