In the dim light of his office, Kaltorn sat alone, his mind a whirlwind of rage and frustration. The walls, lined with shelves of ancient tomes and artifacts of power, bore silent witness to his fury. The death of his brother and sister-in-law was a disaster, not for the reasons the town mourned, but because it jeopardized his meticulous plans that had been years in the making.

Kaltorn's envy and hate for his brother Gihan ran deep, like a poisonous vine entangling his heart. It was a complex blend of jealousy, resentment, and a sense of betrayal that had simmered for years, gradually boiling over into a consuming rage.

From a young age, Kaltorn had strived for recognition, working tirelessly to bring honor and prestige to their family within the high echelons of Ishmel's society. He was meticulous, strategic, always playing the long game, and yet, it was Gihan who effortlessly captured the adulation and admiration of their people. Gihan, with his deep blue eyes and long silver hair, was the embodiment of the High Elf ideal - a warrior of unmatched prowess, his name synonymous with bravery and heroism.

Gihan’s exploits were the stuff of legend, his battles and victories sung by bards across the Laquendora Forest. He had a natural charisma and a way with people that Kaltorn could never match. It gnawed at Kaltorn, this easy love the people had for Gihan, a love that Kaltorn had to toil and scheme to even get a fraction of.

But what truly fueled Kaltorn's disdain was Gihan’s choice to marry a human, Nihigha. In Kaltorn's eyes, this was not just a personal affront, but a stain upon their esteemed family name. How could Gihan, his own flesh and blood, dilute their pure lineage by entwining it with that of a human? It was inconceivable to Kaltorn, a betrayal of their heritage and values.

To make matters worse, this union bore a child - Jaanin. Kaltorn saw Jaanin not just as a nephew, but as a living symbol of his brother's folly, a constant reminder of how Gihan had turned his back on their race’s lofty ideals. In Jaanin, Kaltorn saw an abomination, a blight upon their family's legacy. His very existence challenged the pure image of the High Elves that Kaltorn so desperately clung to and promoted.

Kaltorn’s envy twisted his perception, leading him to view Gihan’s love and open-mindedness as weaknesses, as threats to the traditional values he believed were essential for the preservation of their race's status. He felt overshadowed, his own accomplishments and efforts to elevate their family overshadowed by what he saw as Gihan's reckless actions.

This envy turned into a seething hatred, a driving force behind many of Kaltorn's decisions. He became obsessed with rectifying what he saw as Gihan's mistake, going to great lengths to erase the impact of his brother's choices. Kaltorn's actions were not just about gaining power; they were about rewriting the narrative of their family, about restoring what he believed was the rightful order, an order that Gihan had carelessly disrupted with his heart instead of his head.
