I know Iâm pressing my luck. I havenât thought this out. Bringing Greer in public is asking for trouble.
Still, I canât help it. I want her to be seen on my arm. I want everyone to know she is mine.
Maybe a part of me even wants Bash to find out this way. Then he would press the issue and I could publicly claim her, asking for her hand.
Greer would hate it, but it would solve the issue of navigating how to tell him without pissing her off in the process.
Fuck, I sound pussy whipped.
I guess in a way I am. I would do anything to see a smile on Greerâs face. Even if it meant giving her my last breath, I would do so happily to know she was alive and well.
Maybe thatâs my real hold up. I know she wants me, but I want her to choose me. So, I know without a doubt in my mind that she is happy with her choice. With me.
Still, as I slide out of the back seat of the car, I smile.
Greer doesnât hesitate, placing her hand in mine. Conor steps up to her other side, offering her protection as we are ushered through the back door of my favorite sushi spot.
There isnât anywhere to hide in here, but I also donât think too many people here will be paying us close attention. Being located in the middle of Hellâs Kitchen, itâs a small place not many in our world frequent.
The owner gives us the best table he has, but itâs not private by any means. Then he brings us over the bottle of whiskey he keeps on hand for me alone.
âThank you, Tony. Give us a few minutes.â
The man nods. Heâs a man of few words.
âHis name is really Tony?â Greer whispers as the man hustles back to the kitchen.
âI donât think itâs his real name, but itâs what he likes to go by.â
She nods in understanding, taking in the menu in front of her.
When Tony comes back, we give him our order before turning back to one another.
Greer hesitates when I reach across the table, grabbing her hand for anyone to see.
âKillian,â she whispers a warning.
âStop denying me. This is my life. If I want to risk it, let me.â
She scoffs, âDo you think he would let me off so easy?â
âHe better, otherwise Conor would have you on the first flight out. You would be so far hidden off the grid, Bash would be better off forgetting he ever had a sister named Greer.â
She chuckles. âYouâre so confident, arenât you?â
I settle my eyes on hers, showing her how serious I am. âConor is standing in the back room right now. His eyes? They are taking in any threats. If any were to make themselves known, his main objective is to protect you, even if it means throwing his body in front of yours to take a bullet. If he gets you out and the danger still persists, he is to extract you by any means possible.
