In the next chapter we explore some ways to take pictures of tardigrades.

Chapter 9: Taking Pictures of Tardigrades

You must take pictures of your tardigrades for a science fair project, especially if you are not making permanent slides. The display backboard of your tardigrade project should have nice enlargements of photos taken through the microscope. You most likely do not need to do this for a classroom activity.

Above is a science project board about crystals. Notice on the right side that there are photographs of crystals taken through the microscope. There are many types of science projects that can be enhanced with a few photos taken through the microscope.

Taking pictures through a microscope is fun, and you can even use a mobile phone as a camera. In fact, photography through the microscope is a lot easier than you would think.

Type of Camera

The best camera to use is actually a point and shoot camera that has a setting called “macro,” with a little flower icon next to the settings button. You simply hold the camera over the eyepiece, and zoom in a bit, and you will see everything you saw with your eye.
