• Lipton Ginger Tea. To alleviate heartburn pain, place a Lipton Ginger Tea bag in a cup of boiling water, cover with a saucer, steep for ten minutes, and then drink the tea. Do this two or three times a day. Ginger helps relax the muscles lining the inner walls of the esophagus, discouraging them from carrying the stomach acid upward. (Do not drink ginger tea if you have gallstones. Ginger can increase bile production.)

• McCormick Fennel Seed. To ease heartburn, place a tea infuser filled with one tablespoon McCormick Fennel Seed in a teacup, add boiling water, cover with a saucer, steep for ten minutes, and drink the tea. Herbalists claim that the volatile oil in the fennel soothes heartburn.

• McCormick Ground Cardamom. To relieve heartburn, add one teaspoon McCormick Ground Cardamom to eight ounces of water, boil for ten minutes, strain, and drink the hot tea. Those who practice Ayurvedic medicine claim that tea made from cardamom soothes heartburn.

• Wesson Canola Oil. To soothe heartburn, take one tablespoon Wesson Canola Oil, ideally on an empty stomach. The vegetable oil coats the lining of the esophagus with a protective layer, reducing inflammation.

• Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Gum. To temporarily relieve heartburn, chew a stick of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Gum. Chewing gum stimulates the salivary glands to double the production of saliva, which neutralizes acid and pushes the digestive juices back down into the stomach. (Avoid gums flavored with peppermint or spearmint, which relax the lower esophageal sphincter, exacerbating the problem.)
