STARS IN YOUR EYES

Quick, picture a star in your mind!

What does it look like?

There’s a good chance that you pictured a shape with sharp points directed outwards and with straight edges between each of its corners. Something like this:

We teach our babies and toddlers that this is a star shape, and it doesn’t take long for the indoctrination to stick. The obligatory solar system diorama that all children seem to complete in primary school is littered with “stars” that invariably look like this:
