âWe need to keep moving.â Stokes insists, before stopping for a brief moment, and giving my hand a slight tug forward, âYou can close your eyes anytime, remember I will guide you.â
âOkay.â I whisper. My eyes are betraying myself; they wonât close. Even if they would, Iâd still be seeing this even behind the lids.
âWhat do you see, Amelia? Is everything okay?â My mother asks, giving my hand a squeeze to assure me sheâs there.
âYeah, Iâm fine. I just want to get out of here.â I say, tugging her slightly forward and I feel Stokes pulling slightly on me, urging me to pick up the pace.
I hear the blood whine against my shoes with every step. I have to double down and steady myself because if I donât, I will slip into the pools of blood. I can tell that the puddles are from multiple different bodies. There are swirls are deep crimson, bright red, and maroon all mixed into one.
I look forward, lifting my head off the ground and begin to scan the lobby in full. The room has a hue of red, the sunâs out and is shining in, but thereâs almost a shadow of a red tint on the entire room. Like somebody placed a red shirt over a lamp. The walls are red with an accent of white. You would think they chose a bad design choice and painted the walls red, but they were white when I came through yesterday. The ceiling lights are covered in red, that must be why the room has an ominous tint. I look at the floor ahead of us, and itâs red with streaks running up and down it, like mowed lawns, bodies crawling, or being dragged, up and down.
Bodies are scattered, with limbs strewn everywhere, organs, skin, cloth from their clothes are on the floor, walls, furniture, desks, everywhere like they were absolutely ravaged. It was a frenzied attack. There was no organization to it like at the cabin, where they sectioned off and took their time. This scene is a stark contrast to that. This one is a true bloodbath. I feel my stomach turn and become queasy.
âWatch your step Amelia, kick anything out of the way that your mother might trip on.â Stokes demands, and I instinctively look down to patrol our path forward and see to the right of my foot that there is a hand, a womanâs hand, specifically. Her nails were painted red, and she has a ring on the fourth finger, a pretty big diamond one. I quickly scan the hand to find the body itâs connected to, but it ends at the wrist, and I use my right foot to softly move it out of our path before continuing to scan the floor. The flop it makes against the puddle of blood it lands in grosses me out.
I come across an empty boot, and slide that out of the way with my foot. As we move forward, I come across what appears to be a rib, I canât quite tell, but I move that out of the way too.
