Robert

Logan tightened around me, her hips meeting every single stroke.

Fuck, she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, her eyes half-closed, her bottom lip caught between her teeth as she came.

Her entire body went taut as she rode out her pleasure, and I drank in the sight like a man who was destined to always be thirsty.

Nothing had prepared me for Logan Dean. Nothing had prepared me for feeling this way again. Her eyes flickered when I pulled out, then I plunged back in, her tight channel capturing me like a silken glove, and I lost myself in that wet, slow slide.

“Come inside me.” Her face was softer than I’d ever seen it, a look of wonderment in her eyes. “Mark me, Robert. Make me yours.”

At those words, I came, hard enough I saw stars. I pulled out of her, a rush of seed with it. My arm gave out and I shifted so I fell beside her, my head in the crook of her neck, my arm thrown across her abdomen.

For a minute neither of us moved. I wasn’t sure I could even raise my head, but I shivered when her fingers worked their way through my hair, her fingernails dragging across my scalp. I shut my eyes and relaxed into her curves.

This was what home felt like.

“That was…”

“Incredible,” I said. The word didn’t do it justice, but nothing else came to mind.

“Have I really been asleep for two days?” She looked at me inquiringly, without a hint of fear.

“Yes.” I pushed up. “After what happened…”

“What, exactly, did happen?” Logan’s voice was so soft that I could barely hear her. “I mean, after Servius…killed you?”

“Con filled me in on most of it.” I resisted rubbing my neck to confirm it was not broken. I hadn’t seen what happened, didn’t know anything, until her fire had poured into my body like a torrent, forcing life back into me, restarting my heart and lungs. “When you expended so much magic after your unbinding, you should have been down to your last dregs. But that wasn’t the case. You had a huge reserve of magic—at least, that’s Marie’s theory. When Servius killed me…”

This time I did reach up to check that my neck was intact.

“After Servius killed me, your magic exploded. Con got there in time to see your power encompass Adrian, then burn him to death in seconds. According to Marie, red magic is healing magic.” I hesitated, and Logan straightened, her gaze drilling into me.

“Just healing magic?”

“And dark magic.” I hadn’t meant for her to find out so soon, had hoped she’d have a few days, even weeks to sort through her new powers before she discovered a sinister side to her gift.

She didn’t so much as blink.

“That would explain a lot,” she murmured. “Many, many things.”

“Just because your magic has a darker side, does not necessarily mean it’s evil.” I laid my hand over her heart; it beat steadily against my palm. “You are not evil. You are not dark,” I murmured, willing her to believe it.
