Chapter 10

Piper

Kane had to leave with his dad this morning. With him officially taking on the role of Alpha when his dad steps down, there’s a lot more he needs to learn. He admitted he didn’t take this position seriously in the past, choosing to focus on partying and sleeping around instead.

I didn’t want nor needed to hear that part, but he was being honest. I’m proud of him for taking this chance to grow and find out who he wants to be as a man. I do know one thing for sure, he wants me and our baby girl. We still have a lot to learn about each other, but I’m excited.

“I’m so bored,” I say to Molly on the phone as soon as she picks up.

“Then come hang out with me!” she laughs. “Jamie is with Kane. Since he’s his Beta, he has to learn these things too. I’m at his parent’s house right now. As sweet of a woman as his mother is, if I have to try one more of her weird, funky recipes, I think I might be sick.”

“Oh, no,” I laugh. “But yes, I miss you! I’d love to hang out. I could use something to eat. Wanna meet at the cute little cafe by the gas station?”

“Ruby’s? Yeah, It’s just down the street. I can come pick you up.”

“Nah. I could use a little exercise anyways,” I tell her, groaning as I pull myself off the couch.

“Alright,” she laughs. “If I don’t see you in a half hour, I’ll send a search party.”

“Frig off,” I laugh, hanging up.

Grabbing my purse, I check myself in the mirror by the door. I feel cute today. My hair is still curly from yesterday, and I put on a cute sunflower dress I haven’t worn yet. It fits over my belly perfectly.

Slipping on my flats, I head out to meet Molly.

The pack lands are beautiful, surrounded by mountains and forest. There's a permanent smile on my face the whole walk there as I take in everything around me. I could get used to this place, but I still miss my little cottage.

“Piper!” Molly’s voice catches my attention as I reach the café. She stands from her spot, waving me over. “I got you your favorite. They're not as good as your bakery’s, but still pretty good,” she says as I take a seat at the table.

“Thanks, Molly,” I say, grabbing the drink and strawberry-filled powdered donut.

“So, how's everything going? This is the first real time we’ve gotten to talk in days,” she asks, smiling wide as she bounces with excitement. “I still can’t believe Kane is your baby daddy!”

“I still can’t believe the best friend Jamie was talking about was Kane,” I shoot back at her, picking at the donut and smiling as I think about my sexy wolf man. “I’m happy, Molly. So fucking happy,” I tell her.

“I’m glad, babe. You deserve it. And so does that little girl,” she says. “So, shifted sex?”

I burst out laughing as she wiggles her eyebrows.
