Chapter 17

Marius's Strength

As the rest of Marius' family stayed within Woodman's abode, Marius had already embarked on his training routine on the outskirts of the dangerous mountain. He stood silent as he stared at the scene below within a large tree with a branch thicker than some buildings.

There, one would see two peculiar-looking rhinos, each triple the size of a regular earth rhino with three horns on their heads. Their skin was of a dark hue with markings on their bodies, shining in an earthen light.

Marius had a calm expression as he went over the details; he furrowed his brows and pondered. Hmm, the old man wasn't joking; I've already encountered a small herd of F Ranks. I must say, though, that their attributes are pretty strange. It's as if they could only level with some stats rather than all. I wonder why it's so. Could it be that I am an exception, and everyone in this world can only advance with one or two stats? Or is it just like this for weaker creatures and those with poor talent?

While Marius contemplated, the Earth Rhinols had shown signs of agitation; they had sensed Marius' Mana Power, despite not being aware of his location.

"Roar!" The Earth Rhinols growled with fierce eyes as an earthen light shone around their bodies; they prepared to attack in all directions and flush him out of hiding.

Marius frowned as he looked at them; his eyes shone with battle lust as he licked his lips, seeming like a different man rather than his usual fatherly vibe.

It doesn't matter. I can figure this out later. Despite their limitations, they are still dangerous, even more so than the Flaming Ice Tiger. Their two skills are Tier 1, so they can only increase their current power by one-★-star. I should be able to handle them now that I've gotten this axe, and a few decent skills.

Marius firmly gripped the battle-axe and positioned himself in a jumping posture on the branch, moving his arms to the side as he held the weapon at an angle. Its edge now shimmered with sun rays, pulling the attention from the creatures below.

At this moment, the Earth Rhinols suddenly looked up simultaneously and roared as if invoking a skill. The earth rumbled, and two different earth spires rose from the ground towards the tree branch.

Marius chuckled as he jumped and landed on one of the earth spires, his body sliding down its surface as if he was skating. The earth spires soon crashed into the branch, shattering it as it sent splinters and wood about the area.

One of the Earth Rhinol's growled, noticing that Marius was sliding towards it as his primary target. It stomped its feet, causing a few spiderweb-like cracks to form below it as a dust cloud rose around its body.
