Declanâs cooking is as amazing as I hoped. I set the table while he commandeers the kitchen. The smells make my stomach grumble, and as we eat, conversation is a mix between remembering the past, reeducating each other on wrong assumptions, and speaking of our hopes for the future. Itâs easy, natural, and brings to mind our lunch earlier today.
âItâs sort of nuts to think how quickly things have changed between us,â I tell him as he places the last cleaned dish away and drops the towel onto the counter.
âYou mean, because we havenât had an ugly fight with each other for a couple of days?â He smirks, and I wonder what he is recalling that gives him that smirk.
âYou have hated me since I was nine,â I remind him.
âHate is a strong word. I prefer disliked. I now like to think I have been an idiot since I was twelve.â
âI like to think that, too,â I jest as he takes my hand and walks me over to his couch.
âI wish I had a better explanation for the way Iâve acted around you than the one I gave you yesterday, but it wasnât always your money that made me act the way I did.â
âReally?â I hold my breath, wondering if I am about to find out whatever heâs kept from me. I have had no reason to think this, other than my instincts. However, I have always thought there was more to Declanâs annoyance of me than just money.
âI know things changed a little for me when you became a freshman.â
âIt did?â His constant whining that I was âalways in the wayâ and âsuch a girlâ never seemed to stop, no matter how old we were when we were kids.
âWell, yeah. I remember you walked into the cafeteria with a couple of your friends, and you usually always wore a hoodie or sweater. But that day, you just had on a tight, little T-shirt, and I realized you had tits.â He says this in such a matter of fact way that I almost miss it.
âExcuse me?â I gasp.
âWell, okay, I knew you had tits before that day. But I didnât know you had amazing tits,â he explains, which I answer in the form of slapping his arm. âHey, remember, I was a teenage boy at this point. Tits were almost all I cared about.â
âStop calling them tits,â I snap.
âWhat do you want me to call them? Boobies? Melons? Handfuls of heaven?â
I slap him again before I lean against him, him easily wrapping his arm around me and holding me against him. âHow about breasts?â
âFine, I was a breast man back then. Still am now, but I do tend to see more than just breasts.â
âNice to know.â
âA man has to grow eventually,â he says lightly, a smile in his tone, and I realize why when he continues. âI have grown to appreciate a great set of legs, a juicy ass, and obviously a womanâs pussy is most definitely the gateway to heaven.
