Exploring

I rolled over in bed and bumped into the firm muscles of Nash's naked body. Before I could kiss him, he moved his hand to my waist and tickled me. He wants to play.

I slapped his hand away as my broad smile stretched wide. "Good morning, fiancé." I loved saying that cheerful hello.

"Morning, beautiful." His sexy voice vibrated through me with a magical hum.

I snuggled into his arm, and he pulled me closer, his grin aglow. He let his guard down, and I slid my hand down his leg, tickling behind his knee.

"You sneak!" His smile turned me on, and the early morning bristles on his face made me swoon.

Nash began lavishing me with kisses, and his hands traveled my body on a sensuous quest, making me burn with passion. I loved looking at him and paused a few times during our lovemaking just to sigh over his perfectly toned form and his handsome face — thrilled with the opportunity to love him and feel safe in his arms.

We ended our fun when our grumbling stomachs overtook our playtime. While Nash made breakfast, I pushed Venus aside on the couch to plop next to her and called for a rental Jeep.

"I found one." I patted Venus' belly. "Would you like to go to Oroville with us, big girl?"

"Maybe you should pack a bag and plan to stay at my place tonight," Nash called from the kitchen while setting plates on the table.

I moved Venus' head from my lap, then joined Nash. "You don't think things will change between us?" I asked, with a hint of concern.

He stood by the sink, sipping his coffee and flashing his sexy grin. "You're silly. Of course, our relationship will change — for the better. We've added sex and a ring to the mix."

"You're very practical." I conceded.

He wrapped me in his arms, my head leaned into his chest.

"Let's pick up the rental and head out. Don't bother packing a bag. You still need time to absorb all of our changes."

"Thanks for understanding. Everything is happening so fast. I need to catch up."

"It makes sense, Luv. Everyone needs time to regroup after one major change. You've had several."

"I love when you get all therapist on me." I glanced at the clock. "It's getting late."

I gathered our empty plates and placed them in the sink, then grabbed Venus' leash. "Let's roll."

We piled into the Bentley, headed to the car rental lot, and after signing the papers, transferred my backpack and Venus into the Jeep. An hour later, as we drove by the crash site, we slowed but didn't stop. Even as guilt weighed heavy on my mind, I hoped to prolong my confession of coming here by myself. He'd be upset I didn't confide in him. We might have our first row since our engagement.

Thank goodness the Jeep came with GPS. I didn't know how we would have found the property otherwise. The detailed map showed a tributary road off the highway, then revealed an even narrower dirt one branching off from there.
