With Starfireâs resources, it wasnât hard to find Dravisâs contact information. Being a celebrity on the planet, Adam knew heâd have to finagle his way past his screeners. He doubted Dravis himself would pick up the phone. And Adam didnât know if he could give out his name because all the broadcasts were still talking about him. Whether Dravis would suspect that the image of the Human they were showing was the original Adam Cain was anyoneâs guess. After all, how could it be? The Adam Cain Dravis knew would be approaching sixty Earth years old by now.
Adam punched in the link code and waited for his datapad to chime.
âThis is Dravis Hurr,â the baritone voice spoke as the image materialized on the tiny screen.
Adamâs eyes grew wide. He stammered, not sure what to say. âDravis ⦠hello. Itâs Adam, Adam Cain. I didnât think youâd answer the link yourself.â
The square-headed creature narrowed his eyes. âWhy would I not?â
âWell, because youâre famous. Iâd thought you would have your calls screened.â
âShould they be? Who did you say you are?â
âDravis, itâs me, Adam Cain. Remember, from the Drunage match and, well, you know, the Sol-Kor universe.â
Now the big native recoiled. âWhat did you say?â he questioned. âThat cannot be. How do you know of such things?â
âBecause itâs me. Donât you recognize me? You knew me when I was younger; I shouldnât look too different now.â
Dravis leaned in closer to his screen. âCome closer, let me look at you. My eyes are not as good as they once were.â
He studied Adamâs face for almost a full minute. âThis is not right,â Dravis gasped. âI have been hearing the name recently involving an attempted assassination. And then the calamity that happened today. Besides, you cannot be the Adam Cain I knew. Time has passed. This must be some kind of ploy. I am cutting the link.â
âNo, donât do that! It is me, Dravis. Give me a few minutes to explain.â
âExplain what?â
âWell, everything. What youâve been seeing on the broadcasts and what Iâve been doing since we rescued Riyad on the planet Kor. Câmon, how many people know about that? Ask me anything about that time. Iâll answer you.â
The big Qâuel considered the screen for a moment, a frown still painted on his massive forehead. âMy other companions who accompanied us, what were their names?â
Adam panicked. That was thirty years ago. He could barely remember Dravisâs name, let alone his red-shirt sidekicks.
âAsk me something else,â Adam pleaded. âI canât remember who they were. I just know there were eight of you all together, and itâs been a long time.â
âYou said you could answer.â
âAsk me something else.â
Dravis thought for a moment and then nodded. âDuring our Drunage match, you took exception to something I did after our first block contact. What was it?â
Adam laughed. That was something he would never forget. âYou pissed on me!â
Dravis frowned.
âUrinated, relieved your bladder, whatever you call it on Uinsid. And if you recall, I returned the favor a few minutes later.
