Curved Strokes (with Varying Pressure and Wetness)

Pebbles

• Curved Strokes: These are created with slight movement of the wrist and can be either concave or convex. Use these types of strokes to produce brilliant water effects, so long as you use only the tip of the brush. When the curved strokes are short and in a cluster, they can create a vision of rocks or pebbles, which with the right shading options can look real or three dimensional.

Water Effect

Dabbed Strokes and Bush Effect

• Dabbed Strokes: Use the dabbed stroke when your goald is to produce foliage like trees, plants, or bushes. Different effects can be created depending upon the surface of the brush used and also the pressure applied. When dabbed strokes of darker shades of green are applied on a lighter shade of green, it creates a textural three dimensional image of the bush or tree. If dabbing is done with a lighter color, maybe yellow ochre on top of this, the effect created would be that of sun light falling on the trees and getting highlighted here and there.
