Brauer and I discussed the boring road trips to the various lakes he fished, and he stated, “I hate the boring rides to and from the lakes we fish. There’s a lot of beautiful country in the United States, but some of it becomes less beautiful after you’ve seen it 20 or 30 times. I really dread some of the drives we have to make to reach the tournament sites where we fish on the Bassmaster circuit. Many times fishermen from the East gripe and complain when we have to go to the California Delta to fish. But I love that drive. I’ve only been out there three or four times in my entire fishing career, and I like seeing that country. From Missouri to California, you see a lot of different scenery than you do when you travel in the East. So, I look forward to those drives. But when we have to go to the Potomac River along the mid-Atlantic Coast, and we have to drive through traffic in those big cities to reach where we’ll be fishing, I absolutely hate it.”
