*1 I read a study that looked into the phenomena of forgetting what you meant to do when you’re in the middle of walking through the house to do it. It found that walking through a portal of some sort—either a door or some similar transition—actually caused participants to have these common memory lapses. Do open plans help us remember better?

*2 Pomo, short for postmodern, refers to an architectural style that was a backlash to the austerity of postwar modernism. It was often playful and nonsensical, resulting in odd, noticeable shapes signifying “this is architecture.”
