The Hallway Bully

On Monday morning, Mary and I stationed ourselves near the library. She was standing against the wall, next to the Spring Book Fair bulletin board. I liked the big flowers on it. They were made out of pink raffle tickets. Mary had her bright yellow sash on, and her shiny gold badge. I did, too.

I stood in the doorway of the library next to a bunch of pink balloons. It was ten minutes before the morning bell, and some kids were in the library, asking Mrs. Michaelsen for raffle tickets.

Miss Mackle stopped by to say hi. “If anyone from our class wants to put a raffle ticket into the jar on my desk, please escort them to Room 3B, but make sure they put their names on the back of every ticket.”

Mary answered before I had a chance. “You can rely on me.” She saluted.

Miss Mackle saluted back, then hurried down to the office.
