“Call in the exterminator.”

My men’s stances turned rigid. I gripped the table with all my strength, trying to rein in the fury.

“We need pest control to lay traps,” I confirmed, glancing between them.

Rats. We had motherfucking rats in our midst. They’d be dealt with once captured, whoever they were. We would find out, we always did.

Those within the room right now were my inner circle. I trusted them beyond any reasonable doubt with my life. So, I knew it wasn’t them that had passed on information.

It was somebody currently nameless, sneakily slipping under the radar and unable to be detected. For now.

The businesses got back up and running first thing yesterday, meaning I was twenty-four hours of income down, which I wasn’t happy about, but I begrudgingly accepted the loss. At least it wasn’t a loss of life.

Unfortunately, while those four businesses went back to normal as if nothing happened, two shipments were targeted. Goods that I only used specific transport and people for; I’d kept the knowledge of it to a minimum to avoid this exact situation.

Weaponry and drugs had vanished into thin air. The trackers placed on them had been switched off and damaged, or removed, before they moved the cargo. They’d intercepted the truck on the road, and the boat that had been scheduled to arrive and dock at my private port hadn’t made it there. It had all become untraceable. The men transporting it, dead.

One, two. One, two. I tapped my fingers consistently, the need for comfort pressing down on me.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of goods—drugs and weapons—in the hands of the enemy. The enemy that we couldn’t see, who weren’t revealing themselves. I knew it was the Govonis. They were inching closer to my territory, getting into places they shouldn’t, knowing information that they shouldn’t.

“We need to find out how,” Ciro growled, eyes flashing dangerously.

None of us took well to traitors, knowing it could be anybody right under our noses, and we’d be none the wiser.

I typed out a message to my hacker; the woman was talented at what she did. I relied on her for a lot of information. She had her own little crew, who worked alongside her.

Reign: Eyes and ears. You’re needed ASAP.

Evelyn: You always send the sweetest things. Swoon. Will be there within the hour.

I snorted, flicking my phone around for the men to see, who lit up in some form of amusement. Evelyn had proclaimed she was way too smart to get involved with the likes of a man in the mafia—unluckily for Tobia—but she never refused to earn her keep working for us. I didn’t begrudge her for that. She had her own issues to deal with and always came through for me.

“Minimal,” I advised, and they all nodded. Dino and Brando scribbled down a few notes as they went to pass them around to the staff, and especially Paris, warning them that somebody was definitely listening in and may be watching.

If she was able to, I knew Evelyn would trace it back to whoever it was and see if she could get a link to hack into it.
