Eight

Eve

It’s cold, and I’m alone in my bed. That’s my first thought as I wake up. I may have said I hope this wasn’t a dream in the middle of the night, but I knew it wasn’t. Tyson Black is mine, and I’m his. We both declared that well throughout the night with the amount of times Tyson would sink deep inside me until we passed out from exhaustion.

I roll out of bed, a chill in the air that’s bone deep, and I shiver as I try to find something to wear. Spotting Tyson’s flannel, I grab it off the ground and put it on, buttoning the front. I can’t stop but bringing the fabric to my nose to inhale the scent that is so reminiscent of Tyson before scurrying to find socks.

“Brr,” I’m grumbling to myself, moving as much as I can to keep the cold at bay. “It must have snowed sometime last night.” The cold is still too tough on my body after I make a pitstop at the bathroom, making sure to brush my teeth because morning breath is not always a good thing when you know your man will want to kiss you. At least I’m hopeful he will. I drag out a pair of sweatpants, looking like quite the fashion model in my clothes, then head out to find out why it’s so cold. I mean, I have no doubt snow is littering the ground, but that shouldn’t account for the freezing temperatures that are lingering in the air.

“Tyson,” I call for him as I walk down the short hallway. When I don’t get an answer, I’m quick to stumble, thinking maybe he did leave. I mean, he almost did last night while I was asleep, but that was before.

I look towards the kitchen, trying to figure out what the time is on the microwave. That’s when I realize why it’s so blistering cold in the house. “Shit, we must have had some kind of snowstorm during the night.” There’s no telling what happened when I slept like a baby kitten next to Tyson.

When I still don’t find him anywhere, I step into the garage. The door is standing wide open. Snow is lightly falling, but the ground is packed full of snow already.

“Shit, shit, shit.” I find my rubber boots that I leave out in the garage. I swear if Tyson is out here and lost or got stuck trying to leave to get back to the farm and is hurt, my heart, it can’t stand the thought of that. My stomach is already at the bottom of my feet as I run out of the garage, stomp through the snow, my head whipping back and forth. Both of our vehicles are still parked, so he hasn’t attempted to go anywhere in a vehicle, but where the hell could he be?

“Tyson!” I scream out his name as I drudge through the snow, trying not to fall flat on my ass or freeze said ass off.
