Arrive at the Escatawpa River overlook. When done viewing, retrace your steps to the intersection and turn right (southwest) back onto the main trail. The trail is mostly grass through this section, more of an old service road.

Come to an intersection at a boardwalk. A sign points the way to the parking lot (right) and the boardwalk loop (left). Turn left onto the boardwalk loop, crossing a wetland. Look for pitcher plants.
