The next morning, I woke up late. Tia and Ryu had taken the night watch in their dragon form. Theyâd stayed far enough away that if they sensed a dragon, they would have time to warn us, but were close enough that someone would have to be looking for us to be there. Iâd learned that thunders tended to stay away from other thunders, so the likelihood of a random dragon flying by was low.
The three new additions had claimed the couch as their bed. Unfortunately, all the other rooms were taken, but the couch was comfortable and large enough to fit all three of them.
A strong arm circled my waist and pulled me against a thick, strong chest. Thornâs breath hit my ear, and my body warmed. We hadnât had sex last night, and I was more than eager to make up for lost time.
I turned to him and smiled as I took in his soft expression. His love and arousal swirled between us.
Then there was a loud knock on the door, and Theron called out, âYou two need to come out here and see this.â
The urgency had us jumping from the bed and rushing to the door.
That was when I heard the queenâs voice. I paused and turned around the bedroom, seeking the source. The burner phone lay on the end table next to Thornâs side of the bed. Her voice wasnât coming from there. So where was she?
Thorn and I raced into the living room, where Elliott had his laptop hooked up to the television so everyone could see what was going on.
The queen stood next to Drake, looking seriously into the camera. Her expression was full of sorrow, but she patted Drakeâs arm lovingly as she said, âI know some are concerned about Drake taking over too quickly, but the circumstances are unprecedented. The king died before the prince was officially crowned as his heir. But please know weâre doing exactly what King Arman wanted, and we must make sure that things continue to go as King Arman planned by crowning my son to fulfill his legacy.â
âThat bitch!â Elliott yelled, as Thornâs feeling of betrayal prickled in my veins.
I blinked, hoping this was another nightmare. If it wasnât, we could be attacked at any second.
