âWe are going out tonight whether you like it or not!â orders Emma, staring at my sister in our living room.
I like Emma; she is straight to the point, she never takes no for an answer. My sister throws me a stern look. Iâm not going to help her. We havenât been out in weeks.
âWhere are we going out?â asks Ania.
âTown, it will be awesome,â responds Emma, âI will be here at eight oâclock sharp!â
âBut I donât think...â starts Ania, but Emma is already walking away.
âShut your face. Itâs a good time to go out. You canât spend your days just studying, itâs unhealthy,â I tell her.
I am right; itâs almost the end of November and Ania spends most of her days in the library studying. I know the University is important to her. She failed her last year but she also has to balance everything else. We havenât discussed anything supernatural lately. I was caught with my own coursework, writing an assignment at the last minute. I have been slacking with everything else. I couldnât concentrate after the unexpected news from Three Cliffs Bay.
I shut my mind away because Ania looked happy when she came back that afternoon from her date with Aideen. I couldnât ruin that; besides, my magic trip to Three Cliffs Bay has left me hanging. I feel attracted to Gerald, there is chemistry between us and I canât deny that.
The university gets in the way of my new social life. Ania doesnât talk about our father any more, we donât hear from Abella either, which makes me kind of sad some evenings. I am worried about her but we have to just get on with life.
I see Gerald on my way to campus, when I have to take a bus; he follows Ania almost everywhere like a shadow. Sometimes he takes over the duties of my own guardian. I keep away from him. Trouble always follows me.
Aideen visits a few more times; we exchange polite remarks but he normally vanishes into Aniaâs room. Sometimes he is in the house almost every day, at other timess he doesnât show up for weeks. Aideen is a nice guy; he cares for my sister but I canât see them together. Iâve only seen Gabriel twice but I would just assume that they are made for each other.
His blue eyes were focused entirely on me when we were sitting at the table in Siennaâs house and I would be willing to bet a million dollars that, for a few seconds, he remembered Ania. Sooner or later I will have to talk to Gerald about this. We canât avoid each other forever.
When I get back from the library, Iâm ready to have a good time in town. Ania is still in the shower when I change into my party clothes upstairs. The dress that I wore to Three Cliffs Bay is still hanging by the door and every time I look at it I see Geraldâs ebony eyes and remember his touch.
